Police spent Saturday searching for a man missing in the Hawkesbury River near Windsor without success but plan to begin again this morning.
About 4.15pm on Friday a 21-year-old man from Quakers Hill and two friends went to a place known as “Windsor Beach” for a swim.
Friends of the 21-year-old told police they noticed him struggling in the water and attempted to help him, but were unable to reach the man before he disappeared under the water.
Police were contacted and attended a short time later and commenced a search of the area with the assistance of Polair, Police Diving Unit and SES.
The search continued until about 11pm to no avail.
The search resumed Saturday morning, including officers attached to Hawkesbury Local Area Command, SES, NSW Ambulance Paramedics, and the NSW Police Diving Unit.
Difficult conditions saw the search concluded about 4.30pm yesterday. It is expected to recommence at 8.30am Sunday, January 11, including all the above resources.
