Since April, Hawkesbury’s Rebecca Stein has been continuously working on a 2015 breast cancer awareness calendar, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).
When the Courier first spoke with Mrs Stein, she had just begun photographing the models for the calendar. Now it’s finished and ready to purchase.
Being a photographer, Mrs Stein was able to take on the project with the aim of donating $15,000 to NBCF by selling the calendars at $15 each.
Included in the calendar are Home and Away actors Steve Peacock (Brax), Nic Westaway (Kyle), Tai Hara (Andy) and Lincoln Younes (Casey) as well as Underbelly actor Jack Campbell.
The calendar also features professional Rugby Union players for Queensland Reds and Ambassadors for NBCF, the Faingaa twins, all who Mrs Stein photographed herself.
She was inspired to take on the project as her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 33.
Mrs Stein is also affected as she carries the BRCA2 gene mutatio,n meaning her risk of developing breast cancer is much higher.
‘‘I wanted to do something to help,’’ Mrs Stein said. ‘‘After my mum’s diagnosis, I felt I needed to.’’
Windsor Mall Markets has donated a stall for Mrs Stein to sell her calendars from on Sunday, November 30 for $15 each.
They’re also available at the Regent Cinema box office.
