Hawkesbury police have released a list of signs that there might be a drug lab in your local street.
The list was released after drug labs were discovered in South Windsor, Cattai, Richmond, Riverstone, Vineyard, Box Hill, Blacktown, Mount Druitt and Wentworthville
Hawkesbury crime manager Detective Inspector Paul McHugh said a large hydroponic cannabis growing operation was located and dismantled in South Windsor in February.
He also confirmed with the Gazette that the State Crime Command conducted an operation in May involving search warrants relating to drug labs in Pitt Town and Cattai.
Police have told residents to look out for homes with blacked-out windows, chemical containers and waste, blinds down and extremely bright indoor lighting through gaps, unusual traffic flow and strange odours surrounding the home.
Inspector McHugh said residents should remain vigilant at all times.
‘‘If you are suspicious about the behaviour of persons or activities at a specific location, make good records of what you believe to be suspicious and make contact with the local police or Crime Stoppers immediately,’’ he said.
