Bakers Delight at Richmond Marketplace has raised more than $20,000 for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance.
Staff members and a team of helpers raised the funds through a trivia night and silent auction at Richmond Club on Saturday, August 30.
The franchisees, Ross and Georgina Currant, said they organised the fundraiser to give back to the Cerebral Palsy Alliance for all the support they’d received for their son over the years.
Six-year-old Jacob Currant was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and focal epilepsy when he was 10 months old and his parents told he may never walk or talk. But with support from the Alliance, Jacob was able to begin school at Hobartville Public this year.
“Our goal was to raise $10,000 and much to our delight and surprise we have currently raised $20,025,” Mrs Currant said.
“The support from our local community on all levels has been amazing and very humbling, with people going above and beyond to help and support our trivia night.
“The money raised will be so appreciated by the Cerebral Palsy Alliance and having been in this position ourselves, we know on a personal level, what it will mean to other families that use this fabulous service.
“We wish to say a huge thank you from our family to all the businesses and individuals that have made this night a success and we look forward to holding another trivia night next year”.
The Currants and their team Jacob’s Delights are also taking part in Steptember.
Run by the Cerebral Palsy Alliance, Steptember is a charity event that challenges people to take 10,000 steps a day for 28 days straight during the month of September.
“We will still be fundraising and will have raffles etc running on our counter at Bakers Delight Richmond Marketplace,” said Mrs Currant.
