New Perth Glory signing, striker Andy Keogh, has wasted little time showing off his skills to the fans of his new club.
The Irish international found a hole in Malaga's defence early in the second half of their clash at nib Stadium and found the back of the net to give Glory a 1-1 draw with the top-flight Spanish side.
It was supposed to be a friendly game, but Perth captain Michael Thwaite appeared to un-nerve several players from the La Liga club in the second half.
And the Glory could even have won the contest, with Dan De Silva missing a golden opportunity midway through the second half with just the Malaga keeper Agustin Cousillas in front of him.
Cousillas did better on that occasion than he did in the 57th minute when Keogh found room between Jesus Gamez and Sergio Sanchez and levelled the score.
Granted, Malaga did sub a couple of its senior players out of the game at half-time, including Santa Cruz and Luis Alberto - players who performed so well in the club's 5-1 win over Adelaide on Friday night.
Danny Vucovic was outstanding in goal for Glory, with a couple of terrific saves.
In the opening half he deflected a Santa Cruz header from close range and kept out a long blaze on goal from the same player that was right on target.
In the second, he got in the way of a Juanmi drive that would have resulted in a score more times than not.
Without Vucovic, the scoreline could have been much worse than the 1-1 it was.
He had little chance of stopping the Horta blaze from outside of the box that did find the net in the 32nd minute though to give the Spanish side the lead.
Vucovic missed the Glory's last seven games of last season, when he joined Japanese side Vegalta Sendai on a five-month loan.
Perth certainly didn't appear intimidated by the European visitors.
And Glory fans would have left excited by the prospects of Keogh playing up forward this season.
He and Sidnei broke through the Malaga defence a couple of times early in the game, but Glory was unable to capitalise on their chances.
Former Dutch youth international Youssouf Hersi also impressed in the first half in his first start for the Glory, playing in midfield, while Perth fans also got their look at another new signing, former Brisbane Roar midfielder Mitch Nichols.
