WINDSOR Downs driver Michael Saller will enter the second round of the Rotax Pro Tour buoyed with confidence after a successful test program and result at the first round of the series in Canberra last October.
Saller, who against more experienced opposition achieved pole position and a podium at the Canberra event, is hoping to continue his strong start to the season when round two at the Todd Road track in Melbourne starts on Friday.
The Todd Road round is one that many drivers set as their marquee event.
“Todd Road is a great track, it’s fast flowing and will be an excellent place to kick off our 2013 season,” Seller said.
“After the first round, my confidence is running sky high, during the off season we have been working very hard to take it one step further and achieve victory.”
This year is set to be one of Saller’s biggest in his karting career, with events planned across Australia and internationally, while also progressing with his career plans of moving into further categories.
Saller remains focused on the ultimate goal of the year — to represent Team Australia at the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals in New Orleans in November — a feat that many drivers are chasing.
“We must continue to place a focus on consistency throughout the year, and acquire rankings points on a regular basis to make sure I’m in a strong position to represent Australia,” Saller said.
“I am really setting myself up for a strong year in the pro tour, with a heavy focus on testing to succeed in events as there is only one spot in my category to go to New Orleans.
“With a strong result in Canberra in October it has given me a wealth of confidence.”
Saller will race round two of the 2012/2013 Rotax Pro Tour at Todd Road, Melbourne, from January 25-27.
