THE Toyota Unbreakable HiLux Heroes are proud ambassadors for the 2012 Year of the Farmer and with Hawkesbury Show just around the corner, the team will be showing their support and celebrating hard working farmers from across Australia.
Performing awe-inspiring driving manoeuvres and spectacular stunts, the daredevils will take to the main arena with their high adrenalin driving demonstration throughout the three-day show (April 27-29), and you could be sitting beside them.
The team’s HiLuxes have been used in over 800 performances, with highlights including a stunt in which the driver balances the virtually standard HiLux on two wheels and another featuring a 12m ramp-to-ramp jump.
Other stunts include drifting, nose-to-nose driving, reverse hand brake turn flicks, a range of vehicle-jumping displays and high-speed crossovers – where four of the vehicles drive towards each other in an X formation.
If you want to win a passenger seat experience of two of these high-powered vehicles during one of the performances all you have to do is tell us in 25 words or less what your favourite Toyota V6 HiLux Heroes stunt is and why. Send your answer along with your name, phone number, age and suburb to kietley. isrin@ruralpress.com by Monday, April 23, at 9am and you could be part of the nose-to-nose driving, reverse hand brake flicks and jumping displays.
Please note, entrants must be over 18, fit and healthy, and be willing to sign Toyota’s participant waiver form provided prior to the performance. In addition, the winners must meet the drivers 45 minutes before the performance begins.
The HiLuxes used in the performances are only slightly modified from the road-going 4.0-litre V6 counterparts, with the only major modifications being heavy duty suspension, modified exhaust systems, 16 inch alloy wheels and locking differentials.
“Toyota HiLux has a reputation for being unbreakable, but we are amazed at how much punishment these cars have absorbed,” lead driver Jack Monkhouse said.
“We’ve tortured them with thousands of jumps, bumps, skids and slides and yet they never miss a beat. Five years ago the plan was to replace them after three years, but they are so tough they are now in their fifth year and still as strong as ever.”
Australian cricket legend Glenn McGrath welcomed the Unbreakable HiLux Heroes in becoming official ambassadors for the Australian Year of the Farmer 2012 during the unveiling at the recent Camden Show.
Australian Year of the Farmer founder and Chairman Philip Bruem stated “we are thrilled to have the Toyota Hilux Heroes associated with the Year of the Farmer”.
“Their presence and contribution to rural communities within Australia is legendary and their special talents provide unique demonstrations that are highly entertaining .”
