Only eight greyhound racers will have the chance to win $1 million in the grand final race of the TAB Million Dollar Chase (MDC) next month, but everyone has the chance to win $10,000 in a new tipping competition based around the series, courtesy of Greyhound Racing NSW.
The Million Dollar Chase Tipping Competition will see entrants select a runner across 35 races. These will be in each of the 14 regional finals of the event around the state, the six MDC City Preludes, eight Million Dollar Chase semi-finals, the six other feature races on grand final night, and the MDC final on May 7.
Entrants in the tipping comp can select any dog in each of the events, with points awarded on a basis of 10 points for a winner, five for the runner-up and three for third. Whomever accumulates the most points across the 35 races will collect the $10,000 prize. The competition runner-up will receive $5,000 and the third placegetter collects $3,000.
The Million Dollar Tipping Competition will begin on April 7 when the first regional finals of the MDC will be staged. The competition will be played across six rounds, each round broken into a series of races as they fall on the racing calendar.
