Mitchell Starc has joined the club of bowlers to make an instant impact in an Ashes series at the Gabba.
Unlike England's quick Steve Harmison's infamous wide with the first ball of the 2006-07 series, however, Starc's first ball of this summer's campaign set the tone for a day of domination for Australia's fast bowlers.
The left-arm paceman, who some critics had suggested didn't deserve his Test spot, sent the capacity crowd in Brisbane into raptures when he bowled England opener Rory Burns with the very first delivery of the day.
It's just the second time in the history of the Ashes a batsman has been dismissed off the first ball of a series, with England's Stan Worthington in 1936 the other unlucky player.
The wicket was incredibly the 13th time since 2014 Starc has struck in the first over of a Test.
It also highlighted his value to Australia's attack in the opinion of captain Pat Cummins.
"When you think of the first ball of an Ashes series everyone goes back to Harmison," Cummins said.
"Hopefully that's the new memory now.
"So happy for Starcy, that's why he opens the bowling.
"He's just got a real knack of picking up a wicket in the first couple of overs.
"Just pumped for him more than anything else."
Starc would return to claim a second vital wicket, luring Jos Buttler to edge a ball straight to debutant wicketkeeper Alex Carey just as the England gloveman's counter-attack innings of 39 was threatening for the tourists.
The performance was a vindication for Starc, who some argued should have been overlooked in favour of Jhye Richardson or Michael Neser for the first Test of the summer.
It's criticism that doesn't bother the 31-year-old.
"I've been hearing it for 10 years, it's nothing new," Starc told the Seven Network.
"It must be 1 December when that starts happening."
