The 2021 Hawkesbury Local Business Awards were held on Tuesday night, December 6, at Windsor Function Centre, celebrating this year's award winners and finalists from the Hawkesbury business community.
There were 33 winners presented awards at the event, that gives the community the opportunity to show their support for and recognise the work of local businesses.
Business Person of the Year was awarded to Michelle Follington who owns and operates Blossom Hair Face Wigs in Windsor.
The Business of the Year award was presented to Gourmet Herbs in Wilberforce, while Chutney Café in Richmond won the Community Access and Inclusion Award.
This is the first win at the business awards for Ms Follington, who had previously been nominated, and said she was absolutely blown away by the win.
"I am very happy," she said. "Humbled by the support that I have received over the three years I have been with Blossom.
"It is great to have the recognition that what I have done has been right.
"The community support is what I am most grateful for, and that we have so much support coming from our community."
Gourmet Herbs owner, Jane Vassallo, who won Sydney Markets Fresh Awards Grower of the Year a few weeks ago, said that she was still on a high the following day from winning at the Hawkesbury Local Business Awards.
"I still can't believe it," she said. "After winning the Agricultural Business award, I called my daughter and she mention that I was also up for Business of the Year ... but I said 'There is no chance I'm winning it'.
"It is really amazing I am grateful to everyone that voted for us. After the year we've had, we struggled with the lockdown, but last night made the whole thing well worth while.
"Without my son, this wouldn't have been possible. We need each other to do this. I am so thankful to him and the community."
