It's that time once again to bid farewell to unwanted household chemicals.
Hawkesbury Council's free Chemical Cleanout will be held from 9am to 3.30pm on Saturday, December 4, at Hawkesbury Showground, Racecourse Road, Clarendon (entry via Gate 1).
The event offers residents the chance to make their homes safer by removing old gas bottles, unused chemicals and fuels.
At last year's event 565 vehicles dropped of 26,600kg of household chemicals.
Since 2014 more than 220,000kg of chemical waste has been dropped off by the Hawkesbury community.
Residents can drop off: household cleaners and solvents; handheld batteries; fluorescent globes and tubes; paint; pesticides and herbicides; poisons; gas bottles; fire extinguishers; pool chemicals; hobby chemicals; acids and alkalis; car batteries; motor oils; and fuels and fluids.
Only household quantities of household chemicals and items can be dropped off - up to a maximum of 20 litres or 20 kilograms of a single item.
Before attending the Chemical Cleanout, place all materials in the rear of your vehicle. On arrival, remain within your vehicle and a contractor will open your boot and collect the items.
Site contractors will be wearing personal protective equipment and following distancing measures.
