Hundreds were arrested in the Victorian lockdown protests on Saturday. Police reported 235 arrested, most for breaching health directions but some assault, riotous behaviour and drug offences. Between 500 and 700 mostly maskless people protested.
Meanwhile the rest of Victoria were waiting for a lockdown exit plan from Premier, Dan Andrews. The plan is expected to be released on Sunday.
In NSW the lockdown protests have flopped amid more COVID-19 deaths. Police arrested 32 people across the state and 265 infringement notices were issued for a range of breaches including failure to wear a face mask.
In Queensland the coal miners union says work at Sojitz's Gregory Crinum complex in central Queensland should stop until the body of a fellow worker is recovered from underground. A 60-year-old man was fatally injured on Tuesday when the roof collapsed. Another miner was seriously injured.
Overseas Afghanistan are suffering after another series of blasts in eastern city Jalalabad. Three people have been killed and 20 wounded from the blasts on Saturday. No one has claimed the actions so far.
In other news Olympian and TikTok star Sam Fricker has shown his following a gift from premier Gladys Berejiklian. The Olympic swimmer said he thinks everyone from NSW on the team got a gift from the Premier.
