Hawkesbury cancer charity Pink Finss would have been celebrating its 11th anniversary this week with a bang-up race day, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, the not-for-profit is asking the community for their support in a different way.

As the 11th annual race day will not be going ahead at Hawkesbury Race Club, Pink Finss founder Jodie Amor is once again running to raise funds.

She is now mid-way through an 11-day running challenge which is having her run 11 kilometres each day for 11 days.

She said: "What we are really wanting to do this year is inspire people to think about some small changes they can make to their own lifestyle and challenge themselves to do it every day for 11 days in the hope that it becomes a permanent part of their daily routine.

"It's all about small changes having a big impact and I think what we all need now more than ever is something positive to focus on.

"So far we have had 13 people set their own challenge which is a fantastic result and it's giving people the opportunity to give back and feel good at the same time."

People are encouraged to support Ms Amor in her 11 kilometre challenge and also to join in the action themselves and set their own personal challenge and get sponsored from their network of friends.

Ms Amor said now is a particularly stressful time to be diagnosed with cancer because patients are having to have major surgeries and treatments without a support person.

"Since COVID-19 hit in March 2020 we have received requests for help from over 80 new ladies diagnosed with all different cancer types from the Hawkesbury and now more than ever these ladies are needing to feel the love and support of this Community around them," she said.
