This week is Local Government Week in NSW, and Hawkesbury City Council thinks it's the perfect opportunity to celebrate its unique and vibrant community.
This year's theme is 'Locally Led'. throughout the week council will be sharing on its Facebook page a number of videos and informative facts about the Council and how they are here to support community.
Council will be highlighting it's work with water quality control, greening its suburbs, its libraries, emergency preparedness and more.
Council's Facebook page also includes activities to do while staying at home with regular fun posts on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays:
- Get Moving Monday - Exercise at home with some simple exercises from the PCYC and YMCA.
- Hump Day Happenings (Wednesday) - Council recently asked creative Hawkesbury kids to take part in its online Waste 2 Art competition and make recycled art at home, post it online and have it judged. All entries are due in by Friday, 6 August.
- Friday Fun Day - things to do to keep busy and connected on Fridays; movies, baking, a zoom trivia night or classic board game.
Council's annual event Hawkesbury Fest has been cancelled due to the current lockdown.
Other events and meetings are still being held online where possible, including Council Meetings and Committee Meetings.
It is hoped that the Council's Town Meetings will still be able to occur later in the year.
