Penrith's Jessica Fox has taken home the Gold medal for Australia in the Women's C1 Slalom at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
For first time ever at the Olympic Games, women were allowed to compete in the C1 Slalom, which Fox said, prior to the competition, would be "super special" given the addition of C1 event.
"I feel very privileged ... being the first Australian C1 women's representative at the Olympics," she said.
"It will be the first time we have gender equality in my sport at the Olympics so it should be a special moment to be part of."
Coming off the back of a Bronze medal in the Women's K1 Slalom where she ran the fastest times in the second heat and semi-final, the now three time Olympian was still searching for her first Gold medal.
Fox had the fifth fastest time in the heats with 109.96 seconds, but it wasn't until the semi finals where she showed her dominance in the event setting the benchmark of 110.59 seconds - over 2.5 seconds faster than second.
The final was where Fox really shone. the 27-year-old was last to start and blew away the competition with a perfect run, finishing in a time of 105.04 seconds - 3.5 seconds faster than second place.
Fox finally achieved her dream of winning an Olympic Gold medal and adds to her already impressive collection of two Bronze medals and one Silver at the Olympics.
She has become not only the first Australian woman to compete in the C1 event, but the first woman to ever win it.
