Residents and Transport for NSW are literally standing firm either side of the current North Richmond Bridge, when it comes the placement of a new river crossing.
The "preferred" green option and the resident-supported purple route run on opposing sides of the current North Richmond Bridge.
Each of the proposed routes start at points along Bells Line of Road on the North Richmond side, the green option closer to the town centre. They both converge on The Driftway, leading traffic onto Blacktown Road.
It can be argued that in each instance, the town centres of North Richmond and Richmond are avoided, moreso with the purple option.
Transport for NSW has stated that options have been assessed on traffic benefits, environmental and heritage impacts, urban design and amenity outcomes, flood resilience, constructability, value for money, key stakeholder and community feedback.
