UPDATE 24/06: The Kellyville Pets and Animal Welfare League NSW, 'I'm a Cat Lover Adoption Day' has been postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions. A new date will be set in due course.
EARLIER:
There's never been a better time to fall in love with a rescue cat or kitten than at the Kellyville Pets and Animal Welfare League NSW, 'I'm a Cat Lover Adoption Day' on Saturday, June 26.
There will be plenty of adorable and playful rescue cats and kittens to meet on the day, all hoping to meet their new fur-ever families.
Grose Vale resident Alexandra Bourke adopted a kitten from Kellyville Pets and AWL earlier this year and said it was one of the best decisions she ever made.
"We were so happy that we could adopt a pet and give her a loving home, it felt really good to be able to do that for her," said Ms Bourke of adopted cat Princess - a beautiful, fluffy white fur-baby.
"I feel like she really gives so much love to all of us and it's like she knows [that we rescued her]."
Princess was adopted for Ms Bourke's 10-year-daughter Luella. The family used to purchase pets from breeders and were hesitant to adopt at first.
"Our experience [with Kellyville Pets] was really good," she said.
"We had a cat that passed away a little while ago and Princess has definitely filled that void and has a very special place in my daughter's heart."
AWL NSW media spokesperson Chloe Crass said adoption events provided invaluable exposure for rescue pets who were looking for new homes.
"Adoption events allow different communities to meet some of the rescue pets in our care, and to see the benefits first-hand of welcoming a rescue pet into their home," she said.
"All our cats and kittens are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and wormed treated and have been health checked by our veterinarians. All they need now is to find loving families and adoption events like this help our amazing rescue pets have more access to meeting potential adopters".
Kellyville Pets have been working with Animal Welfare League NSW to assist in rehoming their rescue cats in-store since 2011.
According to John Grima, Owner and Managing Director of Kellyville Pets, "we have helped rehome nearly 800 animals, including cats, dogs and reptiles thanks to our New Life Rescued Pets Program."
The adoption day will be held in-store at Kellyville Pets, 1-15 Milcroft Way, Beaumont Hills on Saturday, June 26 from 10am -3pm.
