Our news podcast dedicated to telling the stories of "real Australians" is resonating on the world stage.
The Voice of Real Australia podcast has been named a winner in the International News Media Association's global media awards.
The podcast picked up first prize in the groups section of the best use of audio category, presented in a virtual ceremony on Friday.
The Voice of Real Australia is produced by ACM, the publisher of this website.
Judges noted the podcast had "an excellent approach on the sound storytelling front and good construction of episodes".
The awards garnered 644 entries from 212 news media brands in 37 countries.
Other finalists in the best use of audio category hailed from India, New Zealand, Kenya and Australia.
Voice of Real Australia, hosted by Tom Melville and produced by Laura Corrigan, is a colourful documentary-style podcast that shares stories from regional communities.
"I'm so proud to have been recognised in this way," Melville said. "We wanted to share the stories of regional Australians with the world, and being internationally recognised proves these voices are worth listening to."
The podcast engages diverse communities to tell their stories, in depth, and share different perspectives.
