ANZAC DAY 2021 SURVEY
KEY FINDINGS
* Nearly three quarters of Australians (72 per cent) have participated in ANZAC day events in the past but just over half (58 per cent) plan to participate this year
* A third of Australians believe the ANZAC story is being forgotten with females and rural Australians most convinced.
THE BREAKDOWN
* Younger Australians (gen Z + millennials) are thought to be the largest group forgetting the ANZAC story
* Participation in this year's ANZAC-related events is likely to be higher in Queensland (66 per cent) and NSW (63 per cent) and less so in Victoria (49 per cent) and South Australia (44 per cent)
* Seven in 10 Australians living in rural areas plan to participate
* Eighty six per cent of Queenslanders have participated in past events (significantly more than any other state)
* Almost all Australians agree ANZAC Day is well respected and three in four believe serving military are respected in our community
* More than a third of Queenslanders have a military veteran in the family (significantly higher than people in NSW or WA)
* Half of all Australians believe military veterans receive too little government support and fewer than 1 in 3 feel they receive the right amount
* Older Australians (65-74 years old) and those living in rural locations are more likely to believe veterans receive too little support than younger Australians and those in metro areas.
