Hawkesbury Mayor, Councillor Patrick Conolly, is encouraging people who wish to help flood affected community members to donate money, items, skills and services online at www.GIVIT.org.au
In partnership with the NSW Government, GIVIT is managing donations and is working with Hawkesbury City Council, outreach teams, local charities and community groups to identify exactly what's needed. The charity then meets those needs through its online warehouse, or by purchasing requested items locally using donated funds.
Donations for the Severe Storms and Flooding fund on GIVIT can be directed to the Hawkesbury specifically by selecting DONATE FUNDS and typing Hawkesbury in the Comments section when making a donation OR by selecting DONATE FUNDS and selecting to directly FUND items requested in the Hawkesbury area. You can also register goods you would like to donate by selecting DONATE ITEMS.
"To support local businesses and the economic recovery of affected communities, wherever possible, GIVIT purchases locally," Mayor Conolly said.
GIVIT encourages all NSW charities, services and community groups supporting people impacted, to register with GIVIT, free of charge. Register via www.GIVIT.org.au/need-help/organisations
Clean up and waste assistance continues to be provided to community members.
"Free skip bins are being delivered to flood affected areas," Mayor Conolly said.
"With thousands of Hawkesbury residents needing waste disposal after the floods, we are continuing to get getting waste contractors out as quickly possible."
Flood affected residents can book a free skip bin and waste removal at www.hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au
