Vision GymSports coach Tristan Hodder has been tagging on the big stage as 'Firestarter' in Channel 7's Ultimate Tag.
The 20-year-old from Blacktown has been training in parkour and tricking for around six years and says that he is lucky enough to make a profession out of it.
"I met a few people who were doing parkour and then I watched a few Youtube videos and was like 'this is really cool', and I wanted to learn it," he said.
"So I started hanging out with those people and training with them and they taught me a lot and now I am where I am."
Tristan has been a coach at Vision GymSports in South Windsor for about three years and credits the gym for allowing him to develop his skills and ability.
"It's an amazing gym, we have everything here," he said. "I definitely wouldn't be the athlete I am without this place, it helped me learn a lot of tricks."
Tristan said that the show contacted him looking for professional taggers.
"They said that they were doing try outs for the show, and so I went to them," he said. "Then shortly after I got an email saying that I had made it as a pro tagger, which is really cool."
"This is definitely the biggest production I have ever done. I've done a bit of TV work before. I've done a few commercials, like Dancing With the Stars and I've been on the news a few times."
Tristan found the days tiring but enjoyable.
"They were long days filming on set, but it was fun," he said. "I am lucky enough that a lot of my friends were also pro taggers and they are people that I train with daily, so it was good being around my friends on set."
Tristan described the show as, "we play a game of tag. The competitors have tags strapped to them and we run around and use our parkour skills to tag them as quickly as we can".
"It's pretty much parkour and having fun, while playing a game of tag on TV," he said.
Owner and manager of Vision GymSports Deon Ellison said that Tristan is a pretty special and talented kid when it comes to parkour.
"He is a really good coach and works really hard with the kids," he said.
"Tristan is very dedicated to the sport and probably one of the best guys in Australia to work with in the sport.
"He absolutely loves doing what he does."
Deon said that the gym went looking for some of the best parkour kids to become coaches when they found Tristan doing some shows.
We brought him along and sort of mentored him," he said. "We got him to do all the courses through Gymnastics Australia and FreeG, and then brought him in as one of head coaches."
Vision GymSports has a unique set up as they can teach a wide variety of Gymnastics disciplines in their large and safe space.
