Two new competitors from Western Sydney have joined the Amazing Race Australia in 2021 as 'Stowaways'.

The bodybuilding duo of Stan and Wayne are muscling their way through the show as they race to win $250,000.

Wayne Marion is a Richmond local who owns and runs the body supplements store, GRO Nutrition on George St in Windsor.

Having moved to the area over two years ago with his wife, Wayne said that he and his family have fallen in love with the Hawkesbury.

"We bought a 125-year-old heritage house in Richmond, wanting to do it up and renovate it a bit," he said.

"The Hawkesbury was a great spot because we love the area's heritage housing and style, but we also love being close to the water.

"We're originally from the Northern Beaches and they just didn't have the old heritage houses that Richmond does."

Wayne and Stan met through the bodybuilding community. Both originally started training to grow their confidence.

They went on to become workmates and friends, through working at Stan's supplement stores.

"We've worked together, coached together, competed together," said Wayne.

Wayne got into training when he was younger, but it wasn't until an older gym member took him in and showed him the benefits of supplements that he discovered a whole new world.

"I went on to become a student in nutrition and received my certification three and four," he said.

"I became a PT and fell in love with the use of supplements and gains in training."

Wayne has worked with supplements for a while, only recently opening his own store in Windsor with his wife.

"There are two main types of supplements," he said. "Muscle gain and fat loss."

"But there are different types of supplements for almost everyone to take and to help with any form of training.

"There are fat loss and fat burn sups, ones that can be used during breastfeeding, ones for muscle gain and definition, a whole array. It's not just for bodybuilders."

Wayne and Stan entered the Amazing Race Australia during the 10th leg, along with another stowaway couple.

"We got off the train and surprised the other contestants," said Wayne.

"It was a shock to enter as late comers in the middle of the desert.

"We try to be likeable people, but we didn't know we were going to be stowaways until the day before."

Wayne was asked by the Amazing Race to describe himself in five words and said: "I only need one - Awesome! Family first, loyal, resilient, determination and stubborn".

Wayne said that he and Stan were approached by a bodybuilding federation to audition for the Amazing Race.

"They were keen for us to do a zoom session and we were just ourselves, joking around and having a laugh," he said.

"The next thing you know, we're racing."

Wayne's Supplement store at 1/206 George Street, Windsor had its grand opening on February 6. It is open 10am-4pm throughout the week.
