While the Hawkesbury Show may be a a couple of months away, now's the time to start thinking about preparing your entries for the many competitions that will be held.
One section which has proven popular - and fiercely contested - in recent years is various LEGO divisions.
In fact, it's been so popular that each year a new class has been added.
This year will see the Special Class For All Ages assigned an ANZAC theme.
Entrants must have their work affixed to a board of maximum size and height of 40cm, using either LEGO or DUPLO pieces or a combination of both.
Sponsored by RAMS Home Loan Centre Hawkesbury-Blue Mountains, first prize will be $50, second $30 and third $20.
While the cash is great, it really is the prestige of taking home the title that attracts the builders.
Other classes are as follows:
- Under 6 years - DUPLO fixed onto a DUPLO board maximum size 38cm by 38cm.
- Under 8 years - Standard LEGO fixed onto a LEGO board maximum sized 32cm by 32cm.
- Under 10 years - Standard LEGO fixed onto a LEGO board maximum size 32cm by 32cm.
Best exhibit in each of the above classes will receive $20, prize card and ribbon donated by Michael Dogger Electrical.
- Under 12 years - Standard LEGO fixed onto a LEGO board maximum 32cm by 32cm.
- Under 16 years - Standard LEGO fixed onto a LEGO board maximum size 32cm by 32cm.
Best exhibit in these classes will receive $20, prize card and ribbon, again, donated by Michael Dogger Electrical.
- Open - Standard LEGO foxed onto a LEGO board maximum 32cm by 32cm.
An over-all LEGO champion will also be determined and will receive $50, prize card and ribbon.
A Raymond A Ram Choice Award of $20 and a LEGO Brickumentary DVD donated by RAMS will be judged on Saturday, April 24.
Open class entry costs $3, while the juniors costs $2.
Entries will close (by mail, online or at the Showground) on Tuesday, April 13, at 4pm. Entrants must be able to delivery their creations to the Philip Charley Pavilion at the showground on Friday, April 16, between 2pm and 7pm.
It should be noted that there is a limit to one entry per exhibitor per class and all entries must be the work of the entrant, an original design and only LEGO branded items will be accepted (no generic brands).
There are to be no loose pieces and entries should not exceed 30cm in height.
Hawkesbury Show will be held at Hawkesbury Showground in Racecourse Road, Clarendon, on April 23-25.
