Hawkesbury Police Area Command seizes counterfeit bank notes from local retailers

Hawkesbury Police Area Command has seized a number of counterfeit bank notes from local retailers.

Police are warning Hawkesbury residents to keep a look out.

If you come across a banknote you suspect to be counterfeit, handle the note as little as possible and store it in an envelope; note any relevant information, such as how it came into your possession; and report the matter to police.

According to the Reserve Bank of Australia, it is an offence to knowingly possess counterfeit bank notes.

When you hand in counterfeit notes to police, you will not be reimbursed as counterfeits have no value.
