LATEST COVID-19 DEVELOPMENTS:
* Two Queensland quarantine hotels, including a Brisbane facility at the centre of a coronavirus cluster, don't have enough CCTV cameras, police say.
* Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk will next week ask national cabinet to consider changing isolation arrangements for overseas arrivals by putting them in remote mining camps. The proposal has come about after a highly contagious strain of coronavirus found in the UK was detected in six people in Brisbane.
* Queensland's Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young said there's no evidence of any further spread beyond the current six cases.
* The NSW government wants to ease restrictions after the state recorded a second consecutive day of zero local COVID-19 cases, but says testing numbers need to rise first.
* Two men in western Sydney have allegedly assaulted two police officers who requested they wear a mask while in a shopping centre.
* Almost 1000 people entered Australia from overseas every day in November, despite Australia's international borders being effectively closed due to COVID-19, new ABS data shows.
* South Australia will lift its coronavirus travel restrictions with Greater Brisbane from Sunday. People travelling to SA from Brisbane will no longer need to spend 14 days in quarantine, but they will still have to be tested for coronavirus three times on days one, five and 12.
* More international tennis stars arrived in Melbourne on Friday ahead of the Australian Open on February 8. All players will undergo 14 days of quarantine at one of three Melbourne hotels and be tested for COVID-19 daily.
* Victorian Health Minister Martin Foley confirmed two players - Scotsman Andy Murray and American Madison Keys - are unable to travel to Australia after returning positive COVID-19 tests.
* Victorian cat shelters are at crisis point in the wake of COVID-19 lockdowns after councils suspended trapping programs, leading to rampant breeding.
AUSTRALIAN CORONAVIRUS NUMBERS:
* There were 11 new virus cases recorded in Australia on Friday: Two in Victoria, three in WA, one in SA, two in NSW and three in Queensland. All are in hotel quarantine except one case in Queensland who tested positive after his two weeks in hotel quarantine. Queensland health authorities say he is asymptomatic and shedding virus.
All were recorded in hotel quarantine.
* The national death toll is 909: Victoria 820, NSW 56, Tasmania 13, WA 9, Queensland 6, SA 4, ACT 3. (Two Queensland residents who died in NSW have been included in the official tolls of both states).
