Ruby Productions cast and crew are looking forward to getting back onto the stage after a year to forget.
On January 16 they will do just that, staging their take on the classic Wizard of Oz.
Oz - The Musical, which features performers from East Kurrajong, will be staged at the John Lees Centre in Penrith.
The strictly limited run, will include 2pm and 7pm performances on January 16, 23 and 30.
Just in case you needed a reminder, Oz tells the tale of Dorothy and Toto, who, along with their home, are swept away during a cyclone from Kansas to the magical land of Oz.
After landing on the Wicked Witch of the East, the pair encounter the ecstatic and newly liberated munchkins and are given permission to wear the witch's powerful silver slippers.
It is here they are told to follow the yellow brick road and head for the wizard, who may be able to send them home.
Along the way, Dorothy and Toto meet the rubber-legged Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion and the Tin Woodsman, who join them on their trek, each with hopes they'll be granted wishes of their own from the wizard.
Hellbent on revenge for the death of her sister, the Wicked Witch of the West has other plans for Dorothy ... and her little dog too!
Thankfully, Glinda the Good Witch has an eye on events.
The story has enchanted generations. This take, complete with musical score is sure to delight audiences.
Ruby Productions publicity officer Peter Merkouris said that 2020 had been an extremely trying year for the group, having lost seven months to COVID-19 restrictions.
"When we open our first show in January 2021, we hope it springboards the other theatre communities in Penrith and surrounding areas to resurface out of the darkness," he said.
"2021 will mark Ruby Productions tenth . We owe our longevity to the Ruby members who work hard and in particular the John Lees Christian Centre who without a doubt, we would not be here still running."
Tickets for Oz - The Musical cost $25 for adults and $20 for concessions, or $35 at the door.
