Total fire ban declared for the Hawkesbury tomorrow
A Total Fire Ban has been declared for the Hawkesbury City Council tomorrow.
The Total Fire Ban, which commences at one minute past midnight on Sunday, November 29 and extends through to 11.59pm, has been declared by the NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) Hawkesbury District.
No fires may be lit in the open, including incinerators and barbecues that burn solid fuel, during a Total Fire Ban and all fire permits are suspended.
Gas and electric barbeques may be used provided the following conditions are met:
- It is on a residential property within 20m of the house or dwelling;
- It is under the direct control of an adult;
- The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all materials which could burn; and
- There is an immediate and continuous supply of water available.
Those who flout the ban face fines of up to $5,500 and up to 12 months jail.
