Just like many other events of 2020, Hawkesbury Council's annual Light Up Windsor has had to be shelved dur to COVID-19 requirements.
Despite this, Hawkesbury Council will still attempt spread a little festive cheer, installing Christmas trees in the town centres of Richmond and Windsor, complete with festoon lighting in Windsor Mall.
The council had received two grants for this year's event. The good news is that these will be rolled over to support next year's expanded 'Light Up Windsor Christmas Trail'.
Council received $60,500 under the under the Federal Government's Regional Tourism Bushfire Recovery Grant program, and an extra $22,000 from the State Government's Destination Sydney Surrounds North also under the Regional Tourism Bushfire Recovery Grant program.
Hawkesbury Mayor, Councillor Patrick Conolly said that while it was disappointing that the event could not be held this year, the 2021 event would be something to look forward to.
"The funding will be used to transform the existing 'Light Up Windsor' event into a Christmas Trail which celebrates the town centre and surrounds of Windsor," he said.
