The winners of the Young Archie competition have been announced, with two boys and two girls getting the award for their skilled portraits of family members.
The national art competition for budding artists ranging in age from five to 18 follows on from the main Archibald Prize awarded to Vincent Namatjira last month.
Gabrielle Guo, seven, from Carlingford in NSW took out the five to eight-year-old category for a portrait of her sister, Vivienne, who loves eating cherries.
Ian Joseph Kim, nine, from Lidcombe in NSW won the nine to 12-year-old category for a portrait of his father, a professional artist.
Queenslander Lily Hobbs, 14, from Kedron, won in the 13 to 15 age bracket for her portrayal of her little sister Josephine who she described as an "old soul".
"I painted her gazing into some unknown future as she so often does," the young artist wrote.
And in the 16 to 18 year category, James Stibilj, 18, from Wahroonga in NSW, won for his representation of supermodel sister India Stibilj.
"She stands for a new era of modelling - one where creativity, talent and a strong personality take reign," he wrote.
One of the judges, artist Marikit Santiago, said she was astounded by the depth of emotion, imagination and skill demonstrated by the artists.
The works of all the finalists are on display at the Art Gallery of NSW.
The winners each receive a cash prize of $200 from ANZ bank, an art pack, a family pass to a paid exhibition at the gallery and an Archibald 20 catalogue.
The Young Archie competition received more than 1800 entries.
