A clutch of Hawkesbury businesses have been recognised as finalists in the Western Sydney Awards for Business Excellence (WSABE), founded by the Parramatta Chamber of Commerce and recognising businesses in Greater Western Sydney.
Oakville Preschool Learning Centre is up for five gongs: Outstanding Business Leader - Elle Connor; Outstanding Employer of Choice; Excellence in Sustainability; Excellence in Small Business (five to 20 employees); and Excellence in Education, Training and Careers.
Ms Connor, director of the preschool, said: "This is a huge achievement and one we are extremely proud of. Given the year we have all faced as a small business being named finalists in five categories is so exciting."
Hawkesbury restaurant and events venue Loxley on Bellbird Hill's owner Paul Maher is also up for the Outstanding Business Leader award, and the business is a finalist in both the Excellence in Sustainability award, and the Excellence in Small Business (21 or more employees) category.
South Windsor's One Giant Leap Foundation is a finalist in the Education, Training and Careers category.
Wentworth Healthcare - provider of the Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network - is up for the Excellence in Arts & Culture award.
Winners will be announced on Friday, November 20, at a Great Gatsby-themed gala at Rosehill, where attendees will hear from keynote speaker Marise Payne, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Women.
