If Donna Pellew had her way everyone would be surrounded by flowers every day.
The owner of Richmond Kurrajong Florist says she believes in flowers "for every occasion and for no occasion at all".
"There should be flowers everywhere and always," she said.
Very much a part of the community, the shop has been operating in Richmond for 40 years.
Donna was employed by the previous owners 23 years ago and took over the business in April 2019.
A fully qualified and highly experienced florist she also has an Associate Diploma in Horticulture.
The shop offers fresh flower bouquets and arrangements and caters for weddings, funerals, corporate and special events.
They also stock artificial flowers and plants and have a large range of preserved flowers which, says Donna, are "very on trend at the moment".
Both Richmond Kurrajong Florist and sister company, Unique Floral and Events, look after several local businesses such as The Crowne Plaza Hawkesbury Valley and Chapel Hill Retreat in Berambing.
As Hawkesbury residents they are proud to support the region and buy local as often as they can. Some of their flowers come from Bilpin and the candles they stock are from a company in South Windsor.
Donna said Richmond Kurrajong Florist was focused on turning their customer's vision into reality. "We go out of our way to keep our customers happy because we love what we do," she said
Donna said her and her staff will always take the time to chat with their customers.
"Being able to build relationships with our customers is a benefit of working in the community," she said.
"We are there for all the milestones which are incredibly special to us."
Donna said one particular customer is an "elderly gentleman who loves his flowering plants" and calls to let them know what he's after.
"We deliver them to his house as he can no longer drive and we may even drop his newspaper off to him."
