The newly renovated Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre was officially opened on Thursday, August 7 by Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Barry Calvert.
Cr Calvert said the $89,000 upgrade of the centre was a Council project, funded by Council and in support of local tourism.
"The renovations provide a new and improved visitor experience with increased retail space, devoted to promoting the Hawkesbury region," he said
"We have local goods for sale at the Visitor Information Centre shop and they are just a sample to promote the many wonderful products available in the Hawkesbury.
"With the inaugural Aussie Artisan Week coming up on 17 August, it's a great time to remember to support our local businesses and markets and buy fresh local produce and support locally-made products, many of which are on sale here at the Visitor Information Centre."
Cr Calvert said that it would be the support of the local community that would make a difference.
"So come along to the Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre and find out about all the great local tourism businesses you can visit and buy great local products," he said.
Thursday's event was attended by Federal Macquarie MP Susan Templeman, John Miller OAM, representing State Hawkesbury Member Robyn Preston, Hawkesbury City Councillors Emma-Jane Garrow and Sarah Richards, members of Council's Tourism Working Group, along with various tourist operators, and community members.
The Hawkesbury Visitor Information Centre is now open under COVID-Safe guidelines Monday to Sunday from 9am to 4pm. The staff at the centre are excited to welcome everyone back to the new space.
