Wollongong surf-rock duo Hockey Dad continue to take a creative approach to the launch of their new album, announcing they'll deliver their own brand of "breakfast cereal" right to fans' doorsteps.
Hockey Dad's upcoming album Brain Candy will be released on July 31 via BMG/Farmer & The Owl.
After announcing two apocalyptic, zombie-themed 'Alive At The Drive-In' concerts on July 31 and August 1 at Bulli Showground to launch their new album, Hockey Dad, of Windang, have revealed that they have created their own 'Brain Candy' breakfast cereal, and will be delivering it to select fans in NSW via contactless delivery.
For some lucky fans located in Wollongong, Sydney and Newcastle (or any cities or towns in between), Hockey Dad will select up to 50 households and deliver their 'Brain Candy' directly to them during release week.
'Brain Candy' will be shipped globally for those outside of the delivery zone.
"The Brain Candy brekky bundle is actually a copy of our new album and a whole bunch of exclusive Hockey Dad merch packaged in a collectable breakfast cereal box," band member Zach Stephenson said.
"There is some actual edible 'Brain Candy' in there, and who are we to say you shouldn't tip the lollies into a cereal bowl and pour some milk over it?"
For those who can't attend the drive-in shows nor receive cereal deliveries from the band, Hockey Dad will also be live-streaming the first 'Alive At The Drive-In' show exclusively on YouTube on album release day.
Fans from throughout the world will be able to tune in online from 8.15pm AEST to witness the ghoulish display from the comfort of their homes.
The band has also announced their new 2021 Brain Candy tour dates, having had to reschedule the shows due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The April 2021 tour will include already sold out gigs in Sydney and Melbourne.
