The 2020 Mountain Lagoon Endurance Ride will take place next month with all breeds and riders of all levels of ability being invited to the annual event.
The Mountain Lagoon race, which was to be held in March, is an opportunity to learn all about endurance riding.
It allows participants to pit themselves and their mount against the terrain and the clock while enjoying the stunning views and the camaraderie of fellow riders.
Riders are invited to camp with their horses at the Mountain Lagoon Ride base on Sam's Way on Saturday and Sunday, August 22 and 23.
This year's ride will look a little different as everyone involved must follow strict coronavirus restrictions.
Ride organiser Garry Weis said that there was a COVID-19 safety plan put in place to protect everyone involved.
"We have set out the requirements for people to follow," he said. "Social distancing will be enforced and hand sanitisers will be available.
"There will be no communal drinking water and the space at the camp won't be a problem as we will be in a huge area.
"Participants will have to sign the COVID declaration, letting us know if they have been in contact with any of the hot spots, someone who has COVID-19 or if they have it themselves, etc.
"The correct PPE will be worn in the vetting area and handlers will be made aware to be careful not to get to close and stay distanced."
There will be 5km, 20km and 40km rides on Saturday. Sunday will see a fourth ride of 80km added to the agenda.
The picturesque course, along flat and undulating tracks, is achievable for novice horses with no testing hills.
The 80km ride is suitable for fit novice horses and provides an excellent kick-start to the endurance season.
The ride usually has volunteers handing out cups of water and lollies for riders along the way but this year organisers have changed that.
"We thought about just cancelling the idea of handing anything out but then we decided it would be better to give out bottled water that they must give back and we will dispose of," said Garry.
There will be buckles for all those who are successful in the 80km ride.
Trophies, medallions and encouragement awards with be given for successful participants in the shorter rides.
Those new to the sport will have the opportunity to mix with and seek advice from experienced riders.
