Hawkesbury Race Club Limited will hold their first official race day with open access to the public this Sunday, July 12 as patrons are welcomed back for a day of on-course action.
Hawkesbury haven't held an open race meet since the Polytrack Provincial Championship Qualifier on March 7. They moved to closed meetings on March 16 and have since only allowed public access for owners.
The club and it's patrons have specific protocols that they must adhere to, following the introduction of strict COVID-19 procedures, in attempts to maintain everyone's safety.
The following protocols are to be adhered to:
- Event organisers to provide contact details of all guests prior to event. Alternatively, all guests will be asked to QRcode on entry
- If guests are feeling unwell or have even mild symptoms, NSW Health's advice is that they stay home and get tested
- Temperatures checks for guests at entry points
- Hand sanitiser is available for guests at entry points
- Additional cleaning procedures are in place for commonly visited areas
- We ask guests to maintain a safe physical distance of 1.5m from other guests
- We ask guests to practice good hand hygiene and have posters in the bathrooms
- Venues are operating at a capacity of one guest per four square meters
- Guests must be seated for the duration of the event and will only be allowed to get up for the restroom, to place bets or to grab food and drinks.
Though the club were allowed patrons at the Thursday, July 2 meeting last week, very short notice made it difficult for the news to get out. So, this weekends meeting is the club's official welcome-back, family-oriented event.
"We are really excited to welcome everyone back on-course," said Hawkesbury Race Club CEO Ken Rutherford.
"We had a few new sponsors come on board during COVID-19, and they will be joining us for this race day."
New sponsors for Hawkesbury Race Club include:
- The Galston Club
- Vardy Thoroughbreds
- PKB Autoclave Services
- Adz Tyre & Battery
- Summit Landscapes
"It's been great to receive so much support from the community and we're happy to be back," said Ken.
Anyone attending the race day must pre-register to be granted entry. There is free entry to the course but to reserve seating - which can be done online - it will cost $25 for inside and $15 for outside.
There will also be a happy hour between races two and four, along with $4 soft drinks, $4 kids meal and $4 hot food menu throughout the day.
The standard package for the Ted McCabe Function Centre will now feature a two-course sit-down meal, instead of a buffet, and be priced at $66.
