RESIDENTS around the Hawkesbury should look up into the sky on Thursday and Friday to witness Hawk 127 Lead-In-Fighter aircraft from Number 76 Squadron conducting diversion training into RAAF Base Richmond.
The aircraft will be conducting instrument approach and 'touch and go' landings before departing to the north to return to RAAF Base Williamtown.
The aircraft will be flying between 9am and 2pm on Thursday and Friday, July 2 and 3.
Diversion and instrument landing system approach training is an essential part of pilot training on fast-jet aircraft, as it assists pilots to land at different airfields in all weather conditions.
Residents should be aware that the timing of this activity is subject to variables, including weather and operational availability.
The Department of Defence requests that local residents do not call RAAF Base Richmond directly for updated timings.
RAAF appreciates the ongoing support of the Hawkesbury community during these training activities, and says noise reduction and the environment are always considerations in the planning and conduct of military activity.
