With COVID-19 and lockdown restrictions easing in NSW, everyone is learning to adjust to the new normals of society.
One aspect of the easing of restrictions that was highly anticipated by many people was the reopening of gyms on June 13.
Rebecca Mendonca, Franchisee of Plus Fitness 24/7 North Richmond is happy to be back and wants to keep it that way by ensuring everyone follows the rules at her gym.
"At Plus Fitness we are ensuring the safety of our staff and our members by following the NSW Governments guidelines along with our own," she said.
"We can only have 100 people in the gym at a time which is easy to adhere to.
"We have decals on the floor reminding our members to stay 1.5 meters apart at all times and to social distance ... towels are to be used on the machines.
"There signs on and next to our machines to encourage people to do the right thing with staying apart and keeping the machines clean.
Plus Fitness North Richmond has always provided hand sanitiser and gym wipes for people to use and now more than ever really encourage gym-goers to use them.
Rebecca noted that the response from the gym's members and community has been great since the reopening.
"There has been a massive influx since we opened back up," she said. "The response has been good and we are getting a lot of people joining up ... especially since we have a good deal for new members.
"I think people are really happy to get back into the gym.
"They were finding home gyms or going for walks was getting tiring and they wanted to be back in the gym, so they've been coming in droves. It's great.
"It'll be good for peoples general health to get back to exercising, as well as their mental health."
Rebecca wants to ensure that people know gyms are safe and that people shouldn't be afraid of returning to them.
Plus Fitness 24/7 North Richmond is COVID safe and will be starting it's classes back up in July.
