Richmond RSL Sub-branch has traditionally publicly commemorated ANZAC Day with a Veteran's March through the Richmond Township and a wreath-laying ceremony at the Richmond War Memorial on the Sunday prior to ANZAC Day, plus the Dawn Service on April 25.
In 2020, because of the significant risk to the RSL's ageing veterans and members of the community from COVID-19, Richmond RSL Sub-branch have cancelled these commemorations.
ANZAC Day remains an important milestone in Australia's and the Hawkesbury district's history, such that it remains important and never be ignored, overlooked or forgotten.
Accordingly, Richmond RSL Sub-branch invites all local residents (men, women and children) to continue to reflect on the courage and sacrifice of our many veterans, and all serving personnel, as ANZAC Day draws near.
Members of the public should also be aware that they are most welcome to place floral tributes in remembrance of those who served, and are serving, on the Richmond War Memorial at any time leading up to ANZAC Day (observing safe separation distance).
Richmond RSL Sub-branch greatly appreciates the local Community's ongoing, strong participation in and commitment to our past ANZAC Day commemorations as we look forward to 2021 and subsequent years.
