HAWKESBURY businesses are getting creative about serving customers in the 'new age of social distancing' led by the Federal Government to curb the spread of coronavirus.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced on Sunday that pubs, clubs (excluding bottle shops), hotels (excluding accommodation), gyms and indoor sporting venues, cinemas, entertainment venues, casinos, and night clubs would be required to cease trading from Monday.
Restaurants and cafes are now restricted to takeaway and/or home delivery.
Kimberley Talbot, CEO of Richmond Club, Hawkesbury Living and Richmond Golf Club, said her organisation was looking at running a school holiday program, and was running virtual tours for the families of potential new nursing home residents while the lockout was on.
The Club is now doing limited takeaway and food deliveries for its members from Villaggio bistro, including delivery of hot meals to senior members.
"We are trying to keep some services open so our seniors can have a hot roast dinner at members prices," Ms Talbot said.
"At this stage we have no notification that the game of golf needs to be ceased. Until further notice the game of golf is still open with social distancing being practiced in the Pro Shop, but the Club House and Main Club is closed."
She was also looking at providing senior members will essential items deliveries including toilet paper and hand sanitiser.
"Call the club, for any of your needs and we'll see what we can do," she said.
Hairdressers around the region are doing Department of Health online COVID-19 prevention training and hosting one-on-one appointments to allow them to thoroughly clean their shops between customers.
"We have high grade hand sanitisers and hand disinfectants, and from Tuesday will have a supply of Aloe Vera gel and isopropyl alcohol available for making your own sanitisers," Vicki Ware of LV Style Beauty Hair & Wellness in Richmond said via Facebook.
Donut King Richmond Marketplace is now doing deliveries for 25 donuts or more, while Give it a Shot Richmond Marketplace is offering a 'text your order' service so people don't have to wait in line.
Richmond Kurrajong Florist is offering fee-free delivery to local nursing homes while the lockout is on.
