A BRAND new mural has been painted at Kurmond Public School, to add a bit of colour to the premises and celebrate 100 years of the school.
The mural was created by School Chaplain, Kylie Morgan, and is based on the class names for the last two years - Australian native plants and animals.
Patricia Beggs, Kurmond Public School Principal, said Mrs Morgan's role at Kurmond is funded through the Department of Education's Student Wellbeing Support Program, Greater West For Christ Chaplaincy and the Kurmond Public School P&C.
"Through this funding, Mrs Morgan is a valued member of our school community contributing her many skills to our students and staff," said Mrs Beggs.
"She runs the drop in breakfast club in 'The Cottage' three mornings per week and volunteers her time to support the school's rock band and the guitar group as well as supporting students' learning in the classrooms.
"We are extremely lucky to have such an amazing school chaplain as part of our school community."
Ms Morgan said her role as School Chaplain is varied, and includes her coming into school early to "hang out with the kids, play games and doing drawing and colouring, and lots of fun things".
"I'm there for the kids if they need a chat, supporting and making sure they're feeling safe and happy," Ms Morgan said.
