The Pink Tie Ball went off in style on Saturday, March 14, in what could have been one of the last major social gatherings in the Hawkesbury for a while.
Event organisers were relieved to hear that the restriction for 500 guests at the time meant that their event could go ahead, after months of planning and working tirelessly to bring the 10-year celebration together.
"It was such a magnificent night and there was a real sense of celebration and relaxation in the air. I think people were just glad to be out with their friends and letting loose after what has been a difficult few weeks navigating the changes that are happening everywhere," said Jodie Amor, Pink Finss Founder.
Themed Havana Nights guests were welcomed into the Pink Flamingo bar and when the night kicked off, Brazilian dancers escorted guests to their tables.
Ms Amor thanked everyone for the very special memories they had helped create over the last 10 years, and introduced the story of the Dimech family which showcased the extent of the work that the Pink Finss does in helping a family unit when a woman is diagnosed with cancer.
One of the highlights of the night was the live auction, which saw a 36 pack of toilet paper auctioned off by local auctioneer and emcee Paul Grech. It created a massive buzz and quite the bidding war with the item finally selling for $8,000 to a local businessman.
"This is a prime example of the Hawkesbury community spirit at its best! People are just looking for an excuse to help others and are able to have a bit of a laugh at themselves in the process," Mr Grech said.
Guests were then treated to a 25 minute drumming and Brazilian dancing performance followed by the High Rollers Big Band leaving guests to dance the night away.
Freemans Reach resident Susan Cauchi was the lucky winner of a brand new 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage car which was raffled off and couldn't believe her luck when she won.
"Pink Finss is an amazing charity. Every dollar that's raised goes straight back into the community," she said.
"We attend the Pink Tie Ball every year since my best friend passed away from cancer. When I won the car I thought 'someone's watching over me'.
"We've seen first hand [the support that Pink Finss provides' with my best friend and her family. She had five children and Pink Finss did so much for them."
Raising $88,000, the night was a huge success. The Pink Finss team thanked its event partners Ontrak Group, McGrath Mitsubishi Liverpool, Richmond Club, Sheridan Road & Rail, The Bachmayer Orthodontic Clinic, Plant Haul, Blossom, Redbank North Richmond, Boomdell Pty Ltd, Dentavision and Comcut; the Hawkesbury Race Club for the great facilities; and the guests who came along and enjoyed a wonderful night out.
