Liverpool preserved their unbeaten record in the Premier League by coming from behind to beat West Ham 3-2 at Anfield on Monday.
Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane scored second half goals in a thrilling game at Anfield that enabled the runaway league leaders to tie Manchester City's 2017 record for consecutive top-flight wins - 18.
The victory also equalled the 1972 record for the Reds' most top-flight home wins - 21.
But it was not without a scare as the Reds stared at their first loss in nearly 14 months since a 2-1 defeat at City on January 3 last year.
Gini Wijnaldum headed Liverpool ahead after just eight minutes but the relegation-threatened Hammers equalised through Issa Diop to make it 1-1 at the interval.
Anfield was stunned further when Pablo Fornals gave West Ham a shock 2-1 lead in the 55th minute as Liverpool's ambitions of becoming only the second team to go through a Premier League campaign unbeaten - after Arsenal in 2003-04 - came under serious threat.
But the Reds were stirred into action and after Salah's 68th-minute shot squirmed through the arms and legs of West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski and over the line in front of The Kop, Mane completed the comeback in the 81st.
A 26th win in 27 league matches restored Liverpool's 22-point lead over defending champions City and left Juergen Klopp's team needing only four more victories to clinch a first English championship title in 30 years.
Liverpool's man of the match Alexander-Arnold was delighted with another win, but was critical of some of his side's defending.
"We felt like we dominated the game but it's football, we've let them have two chances and they scored off a set-piece," the right-back told Sky Sports.
"Set-pieces are probably their best chances of scoring today so we need to look at that, but we've dominated the game and tried to create as many chances as possible.
"We're happy with the win. That's the main thing, but there's a lot of things we need to get right."
A win or even a draw for the Hammers would have seen them jump out of the relegation zone. They trail Aston Villa by a point and are ahead of only Norwich County and Watford.
West Ham boss David Moyes had mixed feelings.
"I'm pleased with a lot of aspects. We did a really good job," Moyes told Sky Sports.
"I think it's a game, coming into it, where nobody enjoys coming here at the moment because of how well they're playing. But for long periods we did a decent job.
"But I'm more disappointed that after getting ourselves into the position we did, that we didn't in some way hang on to take one point if it wasn't three points."
