TWO scholarships worth $3,500 each are up for grabs to go to Space Camp USA from September 28 until October 11 this year.
The offer, from Hawkesbury's One Giant Leap Australia Foundation, coincides with the release of the NSW Government's NSW space industry development strategy, which sets out targeted initiatives to grow and build the capability of the sector.
The initiatives lay the foundation to ensure the space industry remains a source of economic strength, job creation and innovation in NSW. The strategy is designed to maximise opportunities for NSW businesses in space.
One Giant Leap Australia founder and director, Jackie Carpenter of South Windsor, said any student aged between 15 and 17 years old is eligible to apply.
"One Giant Leap Australia Foundation is based in the Hawkesbury for one reason - to inspire our youth to reach for the stars," Mrs Carpenter said.
"The space sector in Australia will create 20,000 new jobs. This opportunity will set students on their way to this career path.
"Thanks to DJI and digiDirect, One Giant Leap Australia Foundation is able to provide two students with scholarships worth $3,500 to assist with attendance to the Space Camp USA 2020 tour.
"Head over to our ambassador [web] page and read about our student ambassadors - two are from Hawkesbury High. You will find that this tour is perfect for any student."
