A man has been charged following an alleged attempt to suffocate a baby, as well as the sexual assault of a woman at Schofields.
Officers from Quakers Hill Police Area Command were called to an Elgin Street home about 12.30pm on Sunday, February 2 following reports of a domestic-related incident.
"Police will allege in court the man attempted to suffocate the child twice," police said in a statement.
"It will be further alleged he choked a 25-year-old woman and sexually assaulted her twice earlier that day."
The woman and child were taken to Blacktown Hospital for assessment and have since been released.
A crime scene was established, and investigators commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A 22-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Riverstone Police Station, where he was charged with three counts of intentionally choking a person with recklessness (DV) and two counts of sexual intercourse without consent (DV).
The man was refused bail to appear before Blacktown Local Court today (Monday, February 3).
