THE Salvation Army is offering free financial counselling for Hawkesbury residents affected by the recent bushfires.
Financial counsellor with the Salvation Army, Lisa Ross, said residents affected by bushfires can call her to discuss any outstanding debts they might need paying, and the Salvation Army will advocate on their behalf with the banks.
"They might have their work shed or tools that have been damaged by the fires, and we could possibly help with replacing those tools," Ms Ross said.
"People can ring my mobile or landline and make an appointment, and I can travel up and see them."
Ms Ross, who has worked for the Salvation Army for 17 years, said she had attended community meetings in Colo Heights and Kurrajong, and wanted to offer her services to other Hawkesbury people affected by bushfire.
"With the fires, people could have had rental furniture in their house that has all been damaged and burned, mortgages, any type of debt, and I can advocate on their behalf," she said.
"They might have been able to afford those repayments but after the fires they might have had to pool their money elsewhere, so they might need to get those payments stopped for a period of time.
"It doesn't matter if they're working, not working, rich or poor. A lot of people are stressed at the moment, having gone through a trauma, and mentally they're not up to contacting all the banks."
