GET down to Governor Phillip Park at Windsor and celebrate what the Hawkesbury has to offer this Australia Day.
Hawkesbury City Council is once again hosting its Australia Day on the Hawkesbury event, a free family fun, food and fireworks community event on the banks of the Hawkesbury River on Sunday, January 26, from 5pm until 9.30pm.
"A special feature at the event will be a spectacular photo montage displayed on a large LED screen to acknowledge the heroic work of the Hawkesbury Rural Fire Service," said a community notice from Council.
"The community will also have the chance to write thank you messages to the Hawkesbury Rural Fire Service, which will be distributed to the 21 Rural Fire Brigades of the Hawkesbury."
This year, attendees will be able to enjoy an outdoor stage with live entertainment including local artists and HYPE Band, carnival rides, food and drink stalls plus food trucks, free face painting and outdoor games, a State Emergency Service display, an outdoor bar by Easy Lane Windsor RSL, and fireworks.
Please note, there will be no BYO alcohol at the event; bags will be checked upon entry.
"Rides, jumping castles, face painting and many other fun activities will entertain the kids while parents and carers can relax and enjoy the atmosphere by the beautiful Hawkesbury River. There is also an inclusive playspace at Governor Phillip Park," said Council.
"The event will also include a variety of food trucks with a huge variety of hot food and refreshments, with a fireworks finale at 9pm on the river."
Earlier in the day, the Hawkesbury will welcome its new citizens at a Citizenship Ceremony at 9am at Hawkesbury Regional Gallery, Windsor.
The Hawkesbury's 2020 Australia Day Ambassador will be road safety advocate, Peter Frazer.
Following the Citizenship Ceremony, the Australia Day Awards Ceremony will commence at Hawkesbury Regional Gallery at 11am. RSVP to events@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au or call 4560 4404.
