A Schofields man who allegedly set two metal drums filled with plastic alight during a total fire ban has been charged by police.
Officers were called to a Pelican Road property about 10.45am on Friday, January 10 in relation to the incident, a police statement said.
"Upon arrival at the property, officers from Quakers Hill Police Area Command saw the drums on fire, as well as evidence of previously uncontained fires," the statement said.
"Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze and were concerned several fires had allegedly been lit at the property over the past six weeks, posing a risk to the public."
The 40-year-old man was arrested and taken to Riverstone Police Station, where he was charged with fail to comply with total fire ban order.
He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Blacktown Local Court next month.
