On Monday, November 25, the Select Committee on the Proposal to Raise the Warragamba Dam Wall will hold the first hearing for its inquiry.
The focus of this hearing is to look into the flood risk assessment and proposed flood management of the Hawkesbury-Nepean Valley, and the nature and extent of the examination of alternative options for flood management.
The Chair of the committee, Mr Justin Field MLC, said: "The committee looks forward to hearing evidence from representatives of the NSW Government, the Wollondilly, Penrith, Hawkesbury and Blue Mountains city councils and from flood risk experts."
The Chair continued: "On behalf of the committee, I wish to thank every person and organisation who has made a submission to the inquiry. The committee has received hundreds of submissions, expressing concerns about the government's proposal to raise the Warragamba Dam wall including in relation to the impact on Aboriginal Cultural Heritage and ecological values of the Greater Blue Mountains National Park, the Warragamba community, and communities on the Hawkesbury Nepean Floodplain."
The hearing will commence at 1pm in the Macquarie Room at the Windsor Function Centre, 7 Dight Street, Windsor. The hearing is open to the public.
Further hearings are scheduled in early 2020.
