Hundreds of family members and friends from around the Hawkesbury turned out for the funeral of Judith "Judy" Lyn Maree Logue on Saturday, November 9.
Friends and family remembered Judy and reflected on her life during a service at St Matthews Catholic Church, Tebbutt Street, Windsor at 10.30am. Following the service, the cortege proceeded to Richmond Lawn Cemetery on Dight Street, Richmond.
Late of Wilberforce, and formerly of Windsor and Wellington NSW, Judy passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family.
She was the beloved wife of 53 years to Darrell Logue (director of Windsor Funeral Home), beautiful Mother of Mark, Fiona, Jason, Paul and a proud Grandmother and Great Grandmother to their families.
Judy was a cherished member of the Hawkesbury who gave so much of herself caring for grieving families in the community, assisting her husband run Windsor Funeral Home. Judy loved and looked after the locals and many lives are richer for having known her.
Judy was born in Wellington to Merle and Bruce Smith and step daughter of Les Davis.
She met Darrell while he was working in Sydney when she was 16.
The couple married in Lakemba Catholic Church when Judy was 17.
Together they share four children - Mark, Fiona, Jason and Paul. They were married for 53 years, and they had eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Once married they moved back to Wellington to help run the Logue family business, which was a funeral home and taxi service.
Judy maintained the phones for the taxis, then they opened a florist and gift shop which Judy ran while Darrell worked in the funeral home: H Logue and Sons (Hubert Logue was Darrell's grandfather).
Darrell is a third-generation funeral director; his grandson Bradley (who conducted his grandmother's funeral) is a fourth-generation funeral director.
There was an opportunity to move to the Hawkesbury in 1988 to run the local funeral home, and there the couple stayed for 17 years until Darrell was able to start his own business, Windsor Funeral Home in 2005.
Judy loved living in Windsor, loved shopping, loved cooking for her family and used to invite anyone that didn't have family over for Christmas dinner.
Judy was very involved in assisting the Rotarians in the canteen at the Hawkesbury Show for more than 15 years.
Judy's role was a funeral consultant at Windsor Funeral Home for 11 years. In that time she sat down with grieving families and helped them arrange their loved ones funerals.
Her husband Darrell would go out and conduct all those funerals on the day.
Judy is very well known by local families, clergy and is a very respected member of the community.
Darrell is a director at Windsor RSL and Judy spent a lot of time supporting her husband in that role.
Due to failing health Judy retired in 2015 and moved to their family home in Wilberforce.
Judy is very close to her daughter Fiona Logue who helped her father look after her mother over the last few years.
Judith passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on a Friday morning.
