Penrith Golf Club has claimed the Club of the Year title at the end of the 2019 Western Sydney Region Veteran Golfers Association (WSRVGA) Inter-Club competition.
Trailing leaders Dunheved by four shots, Penrith's players saved one of their best collective games until last scoring a commanding 8-shot victory.
The finishing positions of all clubs for the season, apart from Penrith and Dunheved, saw reigning Club of the Year Richmond in third, followed by Wallacia, then Leonay, Springwood, Glenmore Heritage Valley and Stonecutters Ridge.
The battle for Male Player of the Year was also hotly-contested, with leader Greg Williams (Dunheved) putting in a solid 36 point performance but he would ultimately be swamped by four of his rivals to finish back in fifth.
Penrith's Russell Cruikshank climbed nine shots to claim the title on 119 points, ahead of Peter Green (Dunheved) and Gary Allsopp (Penrith) each on 118.
Richmond's Garry Smith finished in eighth with 113.
In the Ladies Division, Judy Loader of Stonecutters Ridge had already posted a staggering eight shot lead and could not be run down on the day, taking out the Ladies Player of the Year title.
Elaine Williams (Dunheved) finished runner-up on 104, ahead of Carol Carter (Richmond) on 101 c/b.
In the Ladies Singles Division 1, Richmond's Judy Benson and Carol Carter Richmond finished first and seocnd with 33 and 32c/b, respectively. In Division 2, Elaine Williams had 36 followed by Richmond's Annette Leck with 35.
